Small Income Generating Businesses

M
usa House proposes to facilitate the start up of Small Income Generating Businesses (SIGBs) for the beneficiary foster families under our program. These SIGBs shall ensure that foster families are better tooled to handle family responsibilities without compromising on their integrity when it comes to provision of the basic needs to life.

We envisage that:

  1.  Once a successful match has been achieved, the Charity shall work with the families providing support to help them start up small local income generating businesses that shall enable them become self sufficient and not rely on aid organizations. This strategy allows for a proper exit strategy for Musa House while strongly ensuring that the interventions put in place are sustainable to meet future challenges.
  2. Our aim is to encourage businesses that revolve around the local economy like horticulture farming, fish farming, bee-keeping etc as has been identified by the needs assessment. The business shall receive technical support from hired business consultants and even relevant government staff to ensure that these have stable support from the beginning.

The selected owners shall receive initial trainings (and refreshers courses in the duration of the project) in:

  • Business Skills Management
  • Business Capacity SWOT analysis
  • Micro-finance business financial management (involves calculating the product price, profit, loss and adjusting this regularly with regards to supply and demand - and re-investments)
  • Marketing (selling the products, advertising, packaging) and,
  • Cash-flow or rather cash management within the business.

Musa House shall endeavor to adapt existing best practices in the field of HIV and AIDS control and prevention, carry out research, document and share its experience in the program implementation with established Higher Learning Institutions, International Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and Local Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and Community Based Organizations (CBOs) for purposes of learning and advancing the battle against the pandemic.

From time to time and using our website, articles shall be published by qualified staff recruited through a transparent and accountable process to ensure the Charity grows in depth and capacity to address future unforeseen challenges in HIV and AIDS.

Musa House seeks these businesses to enable the foster parents develop lifelong skills that are necessary to escape poverty and stable enough to allow for a better life for the OVCs and their own families during these times of global uncertainty and recession

Amazingly, at her age (65) she produced milk which baby jacqueline has been suckling on for 3 years now.
